Sculpture Baule Fertility

This unique Baoulé sculpture, measuring 8x7x30 cm, is finely crafted in natural wood, reflecting the belief that spirits and geniuses value the beauty of their earthly home. It has delicately sculpted features and scarifications on the face and sometimes the body, characteristic of the refined aesthetics of Baoulé art. These details are not only decorative but also symbolic, designed to attract and serve spirits in the culture of Côte d'Ivoire. This sculpture dates from the middle of the 20th century.
