Hemba Ancestor sculpture

This female Hemba figure, measuring 19.5x14x60 cm and carved from natural wood, embodies the nobility of the ancestors, reinforcing the family lineage. The hands rest on the umbilicus, the eyes ajar expressing a spiritual connection. Adorned with elegant scarifications on the chest, abdomen, and face, this classical figure was presented at important ceremonies, facilitating the connection between the world of the dead and the living. A unique object dating from the 20th century, originating from the Hemba tribe in DR Congo.
