This remarkable Baoulé fertility figure, originally from Côte d'Ivoire, has detailed scarifications on the front and back of the body. The Baoulé people distinguish themselves by using sculpture for aesthetic and ritual purposes. Carved in wood, it measures 21x16.5x94 cm and dates from the middle of the 20th century, representing the art and spirituality of the Baoulé tribe.
