Bamum Ceremonial Mask

This Bamum helmet mask, originally from Cameroon, is a fine example of African art and culture. This unique item measures 36x31x58.5 cm The mask is made of wood and decorated with colored beads and bronze patterns. The face is cast in bronze and represents a man with a smiling mouth and full cheeks. Bamum helmet masks were traditionally used in royal and religious ceremonies. They were supposed to represent the ancestors or spirits of kings.
